Laura Stephenson is an international singer, dancer and songwriter. Hailing from the UK and with Jamaican heritage, Laura has a strong passion for music, dance and life itself. For the past seven years Laura has been performing across the UK and Europe as a singer and dancer. She is known for her stellar performances in tribute shows such as “The Midnight Soul Sisters” and “The Dream Girls”.
Prior to her work in Europe, Laura spent a number of years in Sydney. She studied music and dance at the Newtown School of The Performing Arts. She was a dancer and singer in Sydney’s premier world dance company, Melange and performed on Australia’s Got Talent and in the stage production Flava of The Caribbean. She was also an extra in the film Hey Baby and appeared on commercials for products including Virgin Mobile.
In addition to being a professional singer, Laura is accomplished in various dance genres including Samba, Dancehall, Afro Caribbean, West African, Afro Brazilian, Bollywood, Jazz and Cabaret. She is also a formidable instructor in Dancehall, Afro Caribbean and West African styles.
Laura is now back in Sydney continuing her career as a performing artist. She has performed as a backing vocalist and dancer for the likes of Jessica Mauboy and Lisa Viola both in Australia and overseas. She has performed with Rhythm Brazil at many key events including the official “1 Year To Go” event for the Australian Olympic Committee and on Channel 7 Sunrise for the “100 days to Go” countdown to the Rio2016 Olympic Games.
Laura’s wealth of experience and fiery, charismatic energy is an asset to the Rhythm Brazil ensemble.
